The last time we talked about Love, Death + Robots was about 3 years ago, when Volume 3 was released on Netflix. Love, Death + Robots: Volume 4
The thing people need to understand about anthology series such as this one is that you have to be prepared for a mixed bag, both in terms of style and quality for each short. That’s been true from the very beginning, and one of the more positive notes I have for this batch is seeing more 2D animated shorts. I adored the comic book aesthetic of “How Zeke Got Religion,” and of course Robert Valley graced us with his presence again directing “400 Boys.” But my favorite has to be a Creature Comforts parody called “Smart Appliances, Stupid Owners.”
“Maybe it's a show getting long in the tooth, but this was a season of major hits and major misses. When the shorts worked, they were great, but when they failed, they failed hard. Still, a season with a Robert Valley-directed short can't be all bad.“ -The Animation Guru
