Rilakkuma's Adventures with Cuphead - Renegade Animation #77
On this episode, Captain Kaye and the Animation Guru review Part 2 of The Cuphead Show, the stop-motion animated series based on the popular San-X character, Rilakkuma and Kaoru, and its sequel series Rilakkuma's Theme Park Adventure.
What’s going on, everyone? This is your Captain speaking, here to bring you what I thought was a pretty fun episode of the podcast! Check out what he had to say about this new batch of episodes of The Cuphead Show (no, I’m not calling it “Season 2”), as well as both Rilakkuma and Kaoru and its sequel series Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure.
The Cuphead Show Part 2
If you liked the first batch of The Cuphead Show, then chances are you’ll probably like this as well. There isn’t a whole lot more I can add that wasn’t already said on the podcast, so I’m gonna go ahead and let Cameron sum up our collective thoughts.
“Cuphead Batch 2 adds more characters from the game, amps up the shenanigans, and builds upon the first batch of episodes that results in more fun antics of our favorite cup-shaped heroes.“ -The Animation Guru
Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure
Our unofficial mission statement of this podcast is to draw attention to certain titles that have gone unnoticed by general audiences, especially when the studio behind said titles barely put an effort into marketing. In the case of Rilakkuma and Kaoru and its successor Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure, I can see why it may not necessarily appeal to everyone. However, if you’re into Wes Anderson’s films such as Fantastic Mr. Fox or Isle of Dogs, and you want to see more stop motion projects with those sensibilities, I would definitely give this a chance. Now, what say you, Cam?
“The Rilakkuma franchise is a sadly overlooked part of Netflix's expansive anime library with some of the service's most calming stories, adult storylines, and low-key lovable mascots.“ -The Animation Guru
That’ll do it for this week! Thank you guys for joining us, and stay tuned as always for more!
