The Dirt: A Motley Crue Retrospective - Episode 1: Too Fast For Love - Renegade Jukebox #35

February 14, 2024 by Michael Kaye in Music, Renegade Jukebox

Renegade Jukebox is back with another retrospective series. This time, instead of 1 mega star in Limp Bizkit, Nick and Mike are making one on 4 big cults of personality in the world of heavy metal. This series will go through each album by Motley Crue, from the perspective of two metalheads who haven't heard the majority of their albums in full. We begin with their 1981 debut, Too Fast For Love.

What’s going on, everyone? This is your Captain speaking, alongside my co-host, Nick, the Super Saiyan Death Metal God, and we are excited to share this episode! It’s a project that’s been in development for a while, exploring a genre of which one of us is not exactly a fan. This was originally meant to debut closer to the 40th anniversary of the band’s 2nd album Shout at the Devil, but was delayed due to, um, life happening. Nevertheless, please tune into the podcast to hear the full discussion!

That’ll do it for this episode! Thank you all for joining us! You are absolutely WRONG about Silence In The Snow. Tonight, Nick and Mike cover what might just be the most contentious Trivium album. One mired by circumstance, member changes, and a changing metal scene from the New Wave of American heavy Metal, to the Octane Metalcore and pre-TikTok influencers telling you not to like this album. But actually how is the music on display? Well, listen and hear Nick & Mike defend this gem.

Jukebox returns with the next episode in The Trivium Retrospective, Vengeance Falls. Nick & Mike confessed in the last episode that it had been a long time since either of them actively jammed the album. So how does it hold up? Sit back, relax and get ready to Ooh ah ah ah as Trivium collaborate with David Draiman. (The results fair considerably better than Disturbed last two albums.)

New decade. New rules. New Trivium, figuratively and literally. In Waves is a huge turning point in the band's catalog, one the band insisted was a necessary step to them continuing. Is the album a shower or a grower? Or would we not see what they were going for on later albums? Listen and find out.
