Farewell, Jacob (aka The Streamin' Demon) - Free For All #10
In this bittersweet episode of the Renegade Free For All, we bid farewell to one of the pillars of the podcast and website: Jacob, also known as the Streamin’ Demon. Join Mike, Josh, Kristal, Keona, and special guest Drake as we look back on Jacob’s time with the site, as well as the movies and TV shows that have been our lifelines in the past few months.
First things first: We have a pretty fun discussion about the video game adaptation curse, a concept which we feel should be laid to rest due to the awesomeness of HBO’s Last of Us series. (Editor’s note: I should clarify that while I wasn’t fully on board after the pilot, I do think episode 2 has convinced me to enjoy the show and keep watching. - Keona) What do you all think about the show? We also talked about the Lord of the Rings trilogy vs. Rings of Power, Velma, and a bunch of other shows, but the really important focus of this episode was the fact that we are losing one of the original Renegade family members, Jacob Krehbiel, the Streamin’ Demon. A bona fide movie fan and amazingly knowledgeable reviewer and proofreader, Jacob has been an integral member of the RPC team! Whether he was convincing us to give smaller, more independent films a chance, bringing aboard co-hosts for the Marquee, or even giving us some sage advice outside of the site or podcast, Jacob committed fully to his work and always brought a unique perspective to his articles and appearances on the show.
It’s not goodbye, buddy. It’s “See you later!”
One more thing: Jacob is very open about being on the autism spectrum, and we are so happy he has found a new purpose in life: advocating for and participating in an academic study about autism and ASD. We are proud of him for finding a greater calling, and we salute him for his incredible work on the site!
