The Barbenheimer Special - Renegade Marquee #35

August 07, 2023 by Michael Kaye in Film, Movies, Renegade Marquee

Pink is definitely da bomb as we here at RPC review Barbenheimer, the most meme-worthy entertainment duo since Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons released simultaneously back in 2020! But seriously, Mike, Tommy, and Lady Tyler are joined by our special guest Meredith as they discuss two of the biggest hit films of 2023, Warner Bros. and Greta Gerwig's phenomenal live action take on Barbie, and Universal and Christopher Nolan's introspective masterwork, Oppenheimer!

What’s going on, everyone? This is your Captain speaking, and I am very excited to share this episode! Barbenheimer has become not only the biggest moviegoing event of the summer, but it was arguably one of the most profitable moviegoing weekends of all time. As I’m writing this, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has become the first solo female directed film to earn $1 Billion at the box office, while Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has surpassed $500 Million. Tune into the podcast to hear myself, Tommy, Lady Tyler, and our special guest Meredith discuss these two incredible movies in great detail!

That’ll do it for this episode! Thank you all for joining us, and thanks again to Meredith for joining the panel! This time on Renegade Free For All, Nick has been pressing Mike to do some kind of a horror episode. Especially given how many amazing films we have gotten over the last 5 years. Without a question, we are in the new golden era for horror movies getting critical acclaim and box office returns as a result. So here they are covering movies that we didn’t get a chance to cover on Marquee.

Tonight's Renegade Marquee is 14 years in the making. Yes, Final Destination: Bloodlines is the first entry in the series in that long. Nick & Mike, being newer fans, cover the whole 9 yards. Even having the decency to pay tribute to Tony Todd. But, does the movie live up to the hype? Listen, find out, and RIP Tony Todd.
