The Eyes of The Bad Guys 2 - Renegade Animation #192
In this episode, Captain Kaye and the Animation Guru discuss Eyes of Wakanda, the latest miniseries from Marvel Animation, and the highly anticipated sequel from Dreamworks Animation, The Bad Guys 2!
What’s going on, everyone? This is your Captain speaking, alongside my esteemed co-host, the Animation Guru! August is actually shaping up to be a pretty busy month, something neither of us were really expecting. Fortunately, we’re kicking the month off on a high note with the subjects of today’s episode. So, without further ado, please tune into the podcast to hear the full discussion!
Eyes of Wakanda
Yes, I wish this was more than 4 episodes long, and yes, I’d like to see Disney actually commit to the anthology format, especially when shows like Star Wars: Visions and Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire proved they could pull it off with great success. That being said, Eyes of Wakanda is still an incredible achievement, probably my favorite Marvel Animation series outside of X-Men ‘97. This series is for the history buffs, and if you’re excited for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, then you’ll love the second episode.
“While I enjoy it more as a proof of concept than a show, and I really wish Marvel Animation hadn't tried to tie it in to the MCU, I would love to see more Eyes of Wakanda in the future.“ -The Animation Guru
The Bad Guys 2
To be a great Dreamworks sequel, you don’t necessarily need to outdo the original, especially if said original is already as tight as The Bad Guys. What’s more important is how this movie builds upon the original, where it takes these characters, and how the world around them continues to expand. The opening heist in Cairo is incredible, and a perfect way to set the tone for the rest of the film. The new additions to the cast are phenomenal, and there are plenty of great action sequences and moments of levity throughout.
“While it could use some time to build up the depth of its characters and have more of an emotional core, this sequel still offers constant thrilling action, laughs, and social commentary to make for another fun ride.“ -The Animation Guru
